Youth Services
The Southwest Center for Independent Living Youth Services program include transition classes that focus on learning independent living skills, advocacy for educational endeavors such as implementation of IEP's and 504 plans, driver's education, community resource management, social events and much more. SCIL recognizes that youth with disabilities encounter particularly special challenges and offers the support to conquer those challenges.
Benefit Consulting & Community Resource Management:
SCIL can answer the confusing questions about disability benefits and help with the process such as with SSI, SSDI, MOHealthNet, food stamps, guardanship and alternatives to guardianship. We can help you make connections throughout the community to gather all the resources you will need.
Your Life Youth Group:
Your Life consists of a high school and post-high school alternating weekly afternoon program for youth with disabilities ages 14-25. The groups focus on independent living skills that are pertinent to the transition process. High school students meet every other Tuesday with the post- high school youth meeting the opposite Tuesday from 4pm-5:30pm at the main Southwest Center for Independent Living office. Enrollment for Your Life begins at the start of each school semester, September and January. For more information, contact Nathan at 417.886.1188 or email through the Contact Us links above.
